William Warstler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home & Cremation Services on Feb. 18, 2026.
William "Bill" Sherwood Warstler of Grand Ledge, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 surrounded by his loving family and life-long friends. Bill was born on January 10, 1938 in St. Johns, Michigan to the late John and Mary Warstler.

Bill dedicated his life to public service. In the course of his career, he served both the State of Michigan and State of Florida. At the State of Michigan, he worked in various roles and ended his career as the Director of Purchasing. He served as the President of the National Association of State Purchasing Officers (NASPO) and was later given the honorary achievement of a lifetime member of NASPO.

After Bill took an early retirement from the State of Michigan, he served in various roles assisting children and families for the State of Florida before his final retirement. His commitment to public service extended beyond his life long career. He served as the President of his Home Owners Association and sat on the Board of Directors of Temple Terrace Community Church. Bill's leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on those around him.

In his later years of retirement, Bill found great joy in spending time with his family. He relished family holidays and nothing made him happier than to hear the laughter and love shared with his grand and great grandchildren. Bill was an avid DIYer for home improvement projects and was also known to have a notorious sweet tooth. He never passed up pumpkin pie or a good cheesecake.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of over sixty-six years, Peri-Anne (Gaskill); his three children, Mark (Shelley) Warstler, Todd (Michele) Warstler, and Juli (David) D'Aloia and his cherished grandchildren, Taylor (Dan) Brush, Cameron (Meagan) Warstler, Aaron Warstler, and Devin and Davis D'Aloia.

He leaves behind three great-grandsons, Owen, Mason, and Lucas Brush and a great-granddaughter, Lyla Warstler. Bill was looking forward to meeting his twin great-grandchildren who are expected to arrive in June 2026.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 7740 W. St. Joseph Highway, Lansing, Michigan 48917 with Pastor Norman Burger, officiating. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service. Immediately following the conclusion of the memorial service, the family will provide a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bill's memory to the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or CorsoCare Hospice, 950 Corporate Drive, Suite 150, Milford, Michigan 48381, reflecting his compassionate nature and commitment to serving others. Bill's legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Arrangements by the Holihan-Atkin-Barclay Funeral Home, Grand Ledge. Yesterday

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I remember Bill when we all
lived in St. Johns and went to Rodney B. Wilson high school. I know Peri Ann and the entire family will miss him, but they are all so blessed to have had Bill with them all for so many years to make beautiful memories. Prayers go out to all of you. Respectfully, Gayla Perry Larkin-Travers, Largo, FL
