Thomas Lampert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Messinger Mortuaries- Indian School Mortuary on Nov. 25, 2024.
It is with the saddest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Tom, who died at age of 66, surrounded by his family, after a very long battle with prostate cancer, 14 years.
Tom, a beloved spouse of Patricia (Trish) Marie Lampert, nee Ruskey, father of two daughters, Christina (Chrissy) Marie (30) and Madeleine (Maddy) Marie (29), sister of Deborah Singleton (Pete Singleton), brother of John Lampert ( Brenda), uncle to nephews Matt Singleton (Krista), Tommy Singleton, Justin (Amy), and nieces Melissa Hudson (Marc), Emily Sanli (Alsan) and Katie (Luke).
Born in Rosiclare, Illinois on September 15, 1958, to Jack and Wilma Lampert (deceased), moved to Jamaica with his parents and siblings and lived there until age 8, when family moved to Pittsburgh, as Tom's dad took a job with Alcoa. It is Pittsburgh where Tom became the ultimate Pittsburgh Steelers fan, as well as a Pirates and Penguins fan. Tom, growing up in Mt. Lebanon, suburb of Pittsburgh, went to Mt. Lebanon High School and then to Colorado School of Mines, where he played football and baseball and received a BS in Mining Engineering. Tom was class vice-president at Mt. Lebanon and also during college years, president of student body. He entered the Caterpillar Elite training program right after graduation and resided in Peoria, Illinois and within a few years moved to Murrysville, suburb of Pittsburgh and joined the Beckwith Machinery company, as Sales Manager.
In 1992, Tom was headed west to relocate to Telluride, CO but met Trish there and fell in love. Trish moved from Philadelphia and Tom and Trish started a family in Murrysville and then started off the marriage by moving to Flagstaff, Arizona in 1995, for 4 years. While living in Flagstaff, Tom worked for Payhauler and traveled the world. By 1999, moved back to Pittsburgh area – McMurray and raised the family while working for Anderson Equipment. As an entrepreneur, in 2002, Tom went out on his own forming many mining and technology related companies that ultimately led to development of Three Marie Mine located In West Virginia in 2010. Tom sold to Jim Justice in 2011 and Tom retired at age 55.
Tom loved to travel with Trish and the girls and sometimes boating trips with his true blue friends from high school, better known as "The Committee." Tom loved hiking, golfing, meditating, weight training, movies, paddling and enjoyed life to the fullest. With a warm heart, Tom also loved volunteering at Washington City Mission.
In 2020, Tom and Trish moved to Arizona for closer proximity to Mayo Clinic and ended up residing there for the last four years up until passing. He fought the good fight, lived a meaningful life full of love for his family, friendships, and purpose. There is no better man than Tom, in the eyes of all who knew him. Despite the obstacles, Tom knew how to live. EVERY SECOND COUNTS.
We invite you to join our family to celebrate Tom's life during a Spiritual Prayer Service at Immaculate Heart of Mary in the chapel on Friday, December 6th, 2024 from 9:15 am- 10:00 am, immediately followed by a Life Celebration Memorial Luncheon at Flourtown Country Club from 11:00 am- 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to be made in Tom's honor to Alex's Lemonade Stand, Foundation for Childhood Cancer

Deepest condolences from Tokyo. It is sad to lose another Mt Lebanon classmate. Tom was always cheerful and outgoing and will be missed.

I had the pleasure of doing some business with Tom at Anderson equipment company and worked out with him at LA Fitness. I always enjoyed his smile and his company as we shared stories of our wonderful spouses. Since grade school he and I often kidded about the fact that we were born on the exact same day, and for a short time "dated" the same girl in 3rd grade.

He obviously lived a very full life and I know that all who knew Tom will miss him dearly.
