Thomas W. Larsen

Thomas Wayne Larsen, age 80, passed from his Holland home into his heavenly home on April 27, 2024. Tom was born in Howell, MI on August 27, 1943 to Wayne and Dorothy Larsen.
He earned his teaching degree from MSU and went on to earn his Master of Education at Wayne State University. Tom loved teaching. He taught middle and high school math for 33 years in the Warren Woods Public Schools where he met his wife, Lucy. He also taught math at Macomb Community College. Tom and Lucy raised their family in Sterling Heights, MI. Affectionately referred to as Sparty, Tom "bled green," missing only six MSU home football games in 57 years. He and Lucy were blessed to attend MSU football and basketball, sail Lake St. Clair and the Great Lakes for 30 years, visit Niagara-on-the-Lake and Stratford annually to see plays, as well as travel together to all 50 states and parts of Canada.
Tom and Lucy moved to Holland in 2005 to be near their children and grandchildren, a decision they called the best one they ever made. Tom and his humor will be dearly missed by his wife of 56 years, Lucy; daughter, Suzanne (Paul) Jones; son, Matthew (Kimberly) Larsen; grandchildren, Rebecca (Matthew) Moorman, Erin Jones, Emma Larsen, Zachary Larsen, and Megan Larsen.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Holland and Atrio Home Health Lakeshore for the loving care they gave to Tom.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St, Holland, MI. A memorial service will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Hospice of Holland.
