Thomas Anthony "Tom" Lavin

Thomas Anthony Lavin, 74, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 25, 2025, in Ridley Park.

Thomas was born in Philadelphia on January 31, 1951, to John and Mary (Mahon) Lavin. He attended Monsignor Bonner High School, graduating in 1969. Thomas worked for US Airways for 35 years, holding many different positions throughout his career. During his time at the airport, he enjoyed decades of friendships, adventures, and plenty of shenanigans.

He loved a good happy hour or weekly pinochle game with friends-first during his working years at Lehman's of Essington and Hennessy's of Prospect Park, and later in retirement at Dolan's Bar and R Park Tavern in Ridley Park. Thomas spent nearly every weekend during his children's and grandchildren's youth cheering them on at sporting events and award ceremonies, or taking them to Phillies, Eagles, Sixers, and Flyers games. Tom loved to laugh-especially making others laugh-but what he lived for and cherished most were the small, everyday moments spent with his children and grandchildren.

Thomas is survived by his children: Scott and Tracey (Salisbury) McAllister of Aston; Stephanie Lavin; Leonard "Will" West Jr. and Kelly (Lavin) West; and Michael Lavin of Ridley Park. He is also survived by his siblings, A. Patricia Lavin of Clifton Park, New York, and Catherine (Lavin) Egan of Gold Hill, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Tyler and Brenden McAllister of Aston, and Sophie West and Leonard "Rocky" West III of Ridley Park; as well as many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, MaryAnn (Woolley) Lavin of Prospect Park; his parents, John and Mary (Mahon) Lavin of Philadelphia; and his brother, John Lavin of Philadelphia.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at St. Madeline Parish. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Mass will be officiated by Father John Flanagan of Sacred Heart Church. A private gathering with family and close friends will be held following the Mass. Griffith Funeral Chapel, Inc. is handling the funeral arrangements.
