Thomas Leger Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Highland Park Funeral Home and Crematory on Jan. 27, 2026.
Proverbs 20:7 "The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him."

It is with heavy hearts and a lifetime of treasured memories that we announce the passing of Thomas Edward Leger. Born on June 18, 1951, to Joseph Criff Leger and Jesse Geraldine Bentley-Gray, Tommy entered this world stubborn as could be, a trait he proudly carried throughout his life, but his love for family was undeniable from the very beginning. In the 9th grade, he met the love of his life, Sheila Stadler. It was love at first sight, and from that day forward, he followed her with hearts in his eyes.

Their love story became the foundation of a family that brought him his greatest pride.

Together they raised four beautiful children: Tommy (Jane), Christi (Shane), Kelly (Jason), and Timothy. Their family continued to grow, blessing him with twelve grandchildren, and an ever growing amount of great grandchildren who have filled his life with laughter and an incredible amount of joy. Tommy was a man of his word and a man of action. He never cared much for worldly possessions, but he valued memories more than anything.

His greatest pride was the time spent with those he loved, and it was never more evident than the legendary spontaneous summer water fights at his home. No person or thing was safe; not beds, not hiding places, and certainly not expensive electronics. If you tried to take cover, he made sure you got drenched anyway. Those spontaneous, traditions have already been passed down through generations and will surely continue for many more to come. He was firm but fair, tough but full of love, and had a way of turning even the smallest moment into something unforgettable. If you thought something was funny (even when it wasn't) he would somehow make it hilarious. Just ask Ashley Lynn, she'll tell you.

Tommy lived life his way boldly, loyally, and with a heart bigger than he'd ever admit. Though he will be deeply missed, the stories, traditions, and love he built will live on forever in the family he cherished so dearly.

2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."
