Thomas (Tommy) Franklin Linville died peacefully in his lifelong home in Section, Alabama, on November 10, 2025, at the age of 65. Tommy suffered a severe neurological injury at birth and was only expected to survive a short time. He lived an unexpectedly long life despite debilitating cerebral palsy that left him "totally dependent". This is a testament to the loving, diligent care by his mother, father, and his siblings and their spouses and countless other caregivers. Although he was unable to speak, Tommy communicated his affections quite clearly. He loved Alabama football, the Atlanta Braves, WAAY 31 News, and Coca-Cola Classic. But above all, he loved his family, whose photos he kept in meticulous order beside his bed. His joyous greeting with wide eyes, toothy grin, guttural yell, and extended foot (meant to be shaken like a hand) said "I love you" with absolute clarity. Ultimately, Tommy's uninhibited love and joy made his family "dependent" on him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas William (TW) Linville and Gleta Jones Linville. His immediate surviving family members are his twin sister, Carol Dutton (Mark), his sister, Teresa Guess (Barry), and his brother, Terry Linville (Janet). His aunt, Barbara Burney (Jack), and uncle, Jim Jones (Julie).
He has 7 nieces and nephews- Ben Linville, Hunter Linville (Angeleque), Drew Guess (Katie), Taylor Guess (Autumn), Lindsey Williams (Jason), Sarah West (Zach), and Emily Wigley (Blake); 16 great-nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins.
