Thomas Joseph Maly

Thomas Maly, age 34, of Norfolk, VA, passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2025, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him. Born on October 31, 1991, in Metairie, Louisiana, Thomas-affectionately known as "Pineapple"-he brought light and laughter wherever he went, embodying hospitality and cheer.
A proud graduate of Norview High School and an Eagle Scout, Thomas studied Air Conditioning and Refrigeration at Tidewater Community College, while working in various construction trades. He was known for his keen focus and relentless drive to complete every task to the highest standard.
Thomas lived life to the fullest, enjoying skateboarding, fishing, nature, and cheering for his beloved New Orleans Saints. He had a special love for animals and would often walk family or friends' dogs simply for the joy it brought him. Above all, his most cherished moments were spent with his daughter, Sophie Maly, sharing simple pleasures like bike rides and trips to Dairy Queen for ice cream.
Gifted with the ability to connect with anyone, Thomas was loved by all for his good and caring heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Sophie Maly; his grandmother, Mary Ellen Maly; his loving parents, Tim and Cherrie Ann Maly; his sister, Suzette (Eric) Johnson; his brothers, Ansel and Andy LaCost; and a close-knit circle of friends who were like family. He was preceded in death by Charles J Maly, Caroline Hajaree, and Gaypersad Hajaree.
A viewing will be held at Hollomon Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA 23518, on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 6–8 pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 154 Government Ave, Norfolk, VA 23503, at 1130 am followed by a procession to a gravesite service at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St, Norfolk, VA 23505.
Flowers are welcomed; donations may also be made to Norfolk SPCA in Thomas's memory, supporting his love for animals.
