Thomas I. Matyas, age 77, of Chicago. Beloved husband and best friend for 55 years of Harlene Matyas; cherished father of Ethan (Kelly) Matyas, Jordan Matyas, and Zachary Matyas; adored grandfather of Jacob (partner Olivia Moll), Charles, Grace, Eliza, and Ted; proud son of the late Leslie and the late Maria Matyas; treasured dog dad of Rosie and Casey Jones; he was loved by his friends, who were like his family. Tom was an outstanding, honorable, and well-respected lawyer, who enjoyed music, going on vacations, and walking his beloved dogs with a cigar. Everyone in the neighborhood loved Tom, and he had an innate ability to make everyone feel special and unique. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and his family is very sad that they did not get many more years with him. He worked hard and played hard and loved life.. Service Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. CT, at Temple Sholom, 3480 N Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL. Interment Willow Lawn Cemetery, Vernon Hills, IL. The service will be livestreamed on Tom's page at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions to HIAS, www.hias.org, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, www.pancan.org, or to any charity of your choice that supports animal welfare. Harlene: Please accept my sincere condolences on your recent loss. I do remember meeting Tom a few times, I think when you were at Erie Cafe. What a personable human. I know you have wonderful memories of Tom and I hope they'll sustain you through the coming months and years. My best to you Rich Aronson
