Thomas L. "Bubba" McCloud, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated retired Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper, passed away on August 29, 2025, in Batesville, MS. Born on July 18, 1945, in Clarksdale, MS, Bubba devoted 34 years of honorable service to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, exemplifying a commitment to safety and justice throughout his career.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Pope Baptist Church with full Mississippi Highway Patrol Honors. Following the service, the interment will be at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends from 12 P.M. until service time at Pope Baptist Church.
Bubba was more than just a trooper; he was a man deeply rooted in his faith and family. His love for the Lord drove him to be an active member of Pope Baptist Church, where he found joy in worship and fellowship. He also enjoyed working diligently in his vegetable garden, a reflection of his dedication and nurturing spirit.
He leaves cherished memories with his family, including his daughter Connie McCloud Turner (William) of Batesville, MS, and his son Jimmy McCloud (Bessie) of Batesville, MS. Bubba was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: Hunter Toliver (Tiffany), Spencer Turner (Bayli), Justin Turner (Heather), Will Turner (Lauren), and Michelle Caldwell (Frankie). His legacy extends to seventeen great-grandchildren and his niece, Tammy Turner, all of whom will carry forward the love and lessons he imparted.
Bubba was preceded in death by his parents, James H. and Mary Alyne Sprols McCloud, his beloved wife Agnes H. McCloud, granddaughter, Danica Hollister and his brother James Earl McCloud. His family and friends remember him as a steadfast pillar of strength and love who brought light to those around him.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Panola South Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 791, Batesville, MS 38606, who he supported for many years.
