It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Tommy McCloughy, a cherished 17-year-old son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. Tommy left this world on Thursday, November 16, 2023, finding solace and peace after a lifelong struggle.
Tommy's journey was one marked by courage, resilience, and a spirit that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. Despite the challenges he faced, he approached life with an inspiring strength and an infectious positivity that left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
A true music enthusiast, Tommy's heart beat in harmony with the rhythms of his favorite tunes, including the Grateful Dead's Ripple, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, and Christmas music all year long. He found joy and solace in the melodies that accompanied him through every chapter of his life. His passion for music was a testament to his vibrant and soulful nature.
Tommy's impact extended beyond his personal circle, as he proudly held the honorary title of "Mayor of the PICU" at Morristown's Goryeb Hospital. His presence there was a source of comfort and inspiration to both fellow patients and the dedicated medical staff who had the privilege of caring for him. Tommy's spirit turned the hospital room into a place of hope and connection, creating a community that rallied around him.
In his 17 years, Tommy taught us the profound meaning of love, strength, and resilience. He faced challenges with a smile that could light up even the darkest room, and his bravery touched the hearts of those who were privileged to know him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever live on in the memories we shared, the lessons he imparted, and the love he generously gave.
Tommy McCloughy will be dearly missed by his loving family, friends, and all who had the privilege of being a part of his life. As we mourn his passing, let us remember the joy he brought to our lives, the strength he exemplified, and the music that will forever echo in our hearts.
He is survived by his loving parents, Thomas and Erin McCloughy; his sister, Dani; his grandfather, Donald Suckiel; his grandmothers, Joanne Staeger & Wendy McCloughy; his uncles, Robert Suckiel, Marc Suckiel and his wife Ali, Chris Kristoff and his wife Lena, Patrick McCloughy and his wife Vanessa, and Jimmy Staeger and his wife Fran; his aunts, Michele Doucette, and Kathy Melly and her husband Kevin; as well as many beloved cousins.
