Thomas McDaniel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Monreal Srnick Funerals & Cremations on Mar. 9, 2026.
Thomas F. McDaniel, affectionately known as Tom, age 97, of Eastlake, passed away on March 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of music, service, and a large, loving family. He was born on June 17, 1928, to the late Clarence and Ola McDaniel.

Tom was a man of many talents and an unwavering work ethic. He proudly retired from TRW in the mid-1990s after many years of dedicated service. Outside of his professional life, Tom was a pillar of his community, remaining very involved in the American Legion Post 214 for many years.

Music was Tom's true passion. A gifted musician, he mastered many instruments and shared his love for performance as a member of the band TJ and the Misfits. His creative spirit also extended to his hobbies, as he found great joy in meticulously crafting model cars and airplanes. When he wasn't playing music or building models, he could often be found enjoying a round of golf or a game of bowling and softball.

Tom's greatest pride was his extensive family. He is survived by his children, Fred McDaniel and Cindy McDaniel, and his step-children, Robert Drake, Douglas Drake, Michael (Deanna) Drake, and Pam (Dan) Koshiol. He was a cherished grandfather to 18 and a proud great-grandfather to 9.

Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Leta McDaniel (Stanley), in 1997, and his second wife, Mildred McDaniel (Drake), in 2022. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debra Ricci; his daughter-in-law, Kim Drake; his son-in-law, Vic Ricci; his granddaughter, Michelle McDaniel; his great-grandson, Justin McDaniel; and his 13 siblings.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Monreal Srnick Funeral Home, 35400 Curtis Blvd, Eastlake, OH 44095. A Funeral Service will be held immediately following the visitation at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Donations in Tom's honor can be made to Continuum Care Hospice or American Legion Post 214.
