Thomas Meau Obituary

Visit the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Thomas Edward Meau, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, Massachusetts. He was born in Norwood, Massachusetts, on July 8, 1967, and was the son of the late Alfred and Cecilia (Burgess) Meau. Tom was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts, and attended Walpole Public Schools before finishing his education at Tri County Regional Vocational Technical High School in Franklin.

From a young age, Tom showed a strong work ethic, working alongside his brother Jeff at Meau Carpet in Walpole. He was an incredibly talented carpet installer, with a keen eye for detail, carpeting countless homes in the area. As his brother’s business grew and rebranded as Floor Works, Inc. in Taunton, Tom remained the go-to flooring installer, taking on projects in both homes and commercial settings, including Jordan’s Furniture. Tom’s dedication didn’t end when work was over — he was always the first to offer a helping hand to anyone who might need it, whether asked or not.

Outside of work, Tom was all about adventure. When the weather was nice, he’d hop on his Harley Davidson and hit the open road, making friends along the way. When winter arrived, he’d head north with his buddies to snowmobile through New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, spending nearly every weekend out on the trails. Back home in Walpole, Tom loved to rehab his house. He was an incredible craftsman, tackling projects inside and out with meticulous attention to detail. When he finished, everything from the roof to the siding and inside woodwork looked brand new — truly a labor of love and pride.

Tom also had a real fondness for the wildlife around his home. He kept numerous bird feeders and enjoyed watching his favorite birds swoop in. He also looked out for the other animals, feeding the chipmunks he called "Chippys" and the rabbits he called "Charlies." But his greatest love was for his "kids," CooCoo and Nunni, his Yellow Napped Amazon Parrots. He loved teaching them phrases and hearing them repeat his words with perfect pitch and tone, almost like they were chatting with him.

At the heart of Tom’s life was his partner of more than thirty years, Linda J. Eckhardt. As a young couple, Tom and Linda loved vacationing in the New Hampshire Lakes region and at Rangeley Lake in Maine, no matter the season. At home, Linda was always by his side as he worked on various projects, offering her help wherever she could.

Beloved partner of Linda J. Eckhardt.

Meau and his wife Pye of Bridgewater, New Hampshire, Paul J. Meau of Foxborough, the late James E. Meau, the late Jeffery A. Meau and his surviving wife, Monique of Taunton, and the late Teresa A.
