Died October 30, 2024
LAKE LEELANAU - Thomas Arthur Meoak Sr., 70, of Lake Leelanau, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Orchard Creek Supportive Care in Elmwood Township.
Thomas was born on February 14, 1954, in Lansing, Michigan, to Eugene and Annie (Donaldson) Meoak. On April 4, 2012, in Suttons Bay, he married Otilla J. Garvin, with whom he shared many cherished years.
Thomas graduated from Lasing Everett in 1972. Thomas's joys were singing in the church choir especially when Tillie was the pianist at St. Wenceslaus Church. Thomas cantered for Masses, several funerals, and weddings. He enjoyed playing euchre at the Leelanau Sands Casino. His favorite sports teams were Michigan State Spartans, Detroit tigers and the Lions.
Thomas really enjoyed living on the Narrows of Lake Leelanau, watching the birds, ducks, swans and a steady boat and pontoon parade all summer long.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Otilla; his son, Thomas A. (Heidi) Meoak II; sister Barbra Jean Meoak; and his treasured grandchildren, Elyse and Thomas A. Meoak III (affectionately known as Tripp).
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Catherine, John, David, and James, as well as his daughter, Gina Natalia.
A service will be held on Friday, November 22, at 11 A.M. with the visitation starting from 10 A.M. at St. Mary of the Assumption, Lake Leelanau. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Father Ben Martin will officiate.
Memorials may be directed to Mass Intentions or Hospice of Michigan 10850 E Traverse Highway Traverse City, MI 49684.
