Thomas Edward "Mo" Mineard (Romans), 81, beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones early on Saturday, January 24th, 2026. Born in
Baltimore, Maryland, Tom's family roots are near Marion, Virginia, but he was raised and lived in Cincinnati for most of his life. He attended Hughes High School and earned his BA at the University of Louisville, where he excelled in math and played basketball. He stood about 7 feet tall and was used to being asked about his height everywhere he went.
Returning to Cincinnati after college, Tom worked for most of his career as a computer/data analyst at Blue Cross Blue Shield and later as a seasonal employee for the IRS. Tom enjoyed a life-long passion for the game of bridge, making many connections in the bridge world. He was an ardent competitive bridge player who went by 'Mo' – inspired by the greatness of one of his idols, Muhammad Ali. He played at the Cincinnati Bridge Center for decades, earning ruby life master, and was known for his aggressive bidding and his insight into how the cards would play out. He was also an avid watcher of TV and movies, and he loved to sing. He could name a movie, show, or song to go with any situation. Another favorite pastime was deriving complex math formulas in his head and writing them out to share with his family.
Tom was a committed and loving father and grandfather. He adored his "cherubs," as he called his daughters when they were young, and as a grandpa, "Papa Mo" loved to brag about his grandkids. His biggest love was his children and grandchildren, and his door was always open, with time for a visit or call and advice and support when you needed it. He never missed a chance to play gin or watch a show together, share a meal at Longhorn or a pizza from Angilo's, or take his family on vacation.
He is survived by his older daughter, Andrea O'Neil, her husband Daniel, their son, Jamie and daughter, Ariana; his younger daughter, Kelli Mineard, and her daughter, Amalia; as well as his niece, Tanya (Victor) Minella and their son, Victor (Deirdre) Minella. He is predeceased by his mother, Elizabeth A. Romans, his grandmother, Lucy Romans Mineard, and his sister, Betty (Wendell) Linde. He will be dearly missed by his close friends in the Mulford family and will be remembered by many who knew him well for his wit and quirky sense of humor, his keen mind, and his generosity.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 30th at 4 p.m., followed by a service and sharing of memories at 5 p.m. at Tredway Funeral Home, 2131 Cameron Ave.,
Norwood, OH 45212. Online condolences may be shared at Tredwayfuneral.com; he would have appreciated memorial contributions to Save the Children, the Cincinnati Bridge Association, or Meals on Wheels of Southwest Ohio & Northern Kentucky.
