Minnick, Thomas R. Sr.
BALLSTON LAKE - Thomas R. Minnick, Sr., age 76, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Thomas was born on October 1, 1946, in Rockville Centre, N.Y., and was the son of the late William Sr. and Lolita (Swefert) Minnick.
After graduating from Archbishop Molloy High School in N.Y.C., Thomas attended Niagara University and earned a bachelor's degree in English. He then married Rochelle Foglietta, his wife of 54 years. Thomas enlisted into the U.S. Army and served as Captain for the 1203 Tank Unit stationed in Germany, from 1969 to 1971 and was honorably discharged.
While working full-time and raising his family he earned his M.B.A. from Russell Sage College. He spent the majority of his career working in the field of human resources, and most recently retired as the director of the Center for Human Resources for the Business Council of N.Y.S. in Albany.
Thomas truly had a zest for life. He always lived in the moment and appreciated the little things. He especially loved driving around in his Solara Convertible and reading any book or newspaper he could get his hands on. Every year he relished the love of his huge family as they vacationed together at Bethany Beach in Delaware and gathered under "The Big Red Spring Tent" at Saratoga Race Course. This left him with countless memories and stories to treasure. He also cherished the special moments at home hanging out on the porch, welcoming his family and friends. Thomas was strong in his Catholic faith and practiced his religion every Sunday at Mass. He was a proud, lifetime blood donor to the American Red Cross.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Rochelle A. (Foglietta) Minnick; his loving children, Thomas (Ellen) Minnick, Jr., Todd (Ena) Minnick, Melissa (Matt) Grattan, Allison (David) Meyers, and Nicole (Chad) Beck; his wonderful grandchildren, Brett (Madison), Jake, Josh, Texas, Faith, Anthony, Austin, William, Isaac, Elliott, Avi, Hunter, and Charley; and his dear brother, William (Margaret) Minnick.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday, June 8, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Road, Ballston Lake, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 9, at 8 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2001 US-9, Round Lake, N.Y. Interment with military honors will follow at 10 a.m., at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y.
