Thomas Collins "Tom" Minniear, 90, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, Tom dedicated his life to music education, touching countless lives as a teacher and instrument repairman after studying at Stephen F. Austin University. A proud veteran of both the United States National Guard and Army, Tom carried his discipline and dedication into every aspect of his life.
Tom found joy in the simple pleasures - hunting, fishing, cheering on LSU sports, and most importantly, treasuring moments with his beloved family. His passion for music and teaching created a lasting legacy that continues through the many students he mentored throughout his career.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Aline Simpson Minniear; daughters Debbie Castro and Christina Avila (Maria); grandchildren Melissa, Taylor, and Alexis; three great-grandchildren; and his two sisters and two brothers.
Private services for family and friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
