Thomas Michael Mitchell, 92, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.
He was born on December 31, 1932, in Staunton, Virginia to the late James Dore Mitchell and Louise Jordan Mitchell (Mohr).
Tom attended Saint Francis Catholic School in Staunton and was a 1952 graduate of Augusta Military Academy in Fort Defiance.
Prior to retirement he was employed by the Virginia Department of Transportation, dedicating more than thirty-nine years of service.
He was a devoted member of Central United Methodist Church in Staunton, where he sang in the choir, participated in bell choir, and also served as an usher. Tom also gave his time as a board member and active volunteer with the Gypsy Express and was formerly a member of the Gypsy Hill AARP.
On October 15, 1955, he married the former Constance Markley who preceded him in death on December 31, 2018, after sixty-three years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, and parents Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his grandparents James E. and Lula E. Jordan.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Mitchell of Staunton; and a number of cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church in Staunton with Reverend Won Un officiating.
Burial will be private.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Alexander, Dr. Escanellas, Dr. Stisser, Dr.Campbell, Dr. Vincent Johnson, and the dedicated staff at UVA Dialysis Staunton.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Henry Funeral Home in Staunton.
