Thomas Wayne Morrison, a devoted family man, veteran, and founding member of New Beginnings Baptist Church in Hayden, Alabama, passed away on March 14, 2026, in Hayden, Alabama. Born on September 25, 1945, in Oklahoma, Mr. Morrison lived a life marked by dedication to his faith, his family, and his country.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Thomas Morrison exemplified a spirit of service throughout his life. He was deeply involved in his community and church, having been one of the founding members of New Beginnings Baptist Church where he worshipped faithfully. His passions extended beyond his spiritual commitments; he was an avid reader, enjoyed building crafts, cherished quality time with his loved ones, and a collector of oddities.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife, Rachel Carol Morrison; his sons Gregory Morrison, Joseph Morrison (and his wife Joscelyn), and Matthew Morrison (and his wife Noely); and his daughters Angela Smith (and her husband Scott) and Taska Morrison (Austin). He also leaves behind two brothers, James “Hub” Morrison (and his wife Mardy) and Dean Morrison (and his wife Tanya). His legacy continues through his grandchildren Kristopher “Krittur” Morrison, David Morrison, Zachary Smith, Daniel Morrison, Rosalie Morrison, and Olive Morrison, as well as his great-grandson, River Morrison.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Eugene Morrison; his mother, Minnie Lou Galbreath; and his brothers Richard Morrison and Roger Morrison.
Family, friends, and community members will honor the memory of Thomas Wayne Morrison with a visitation held on March 19, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at New Beginnings Baptist Church, located at 5375 AL-160, Hayden, Alabama. The funeral service will follow at the same location from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
