Thomas Moynihan Obituary
July 27, 1945 - July 21, 2025
Thomas J. Moynihan, Jr., 79, of Brigantine passed away on Monday July 21, 2025 at home with his family by his side. Tommy was born in Rhinebeck, New York, to the late Thomas, Sr. and Marie (nee Wintje) Moynihan. Tommy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Union during the Vietnam War.
Tommy retired from Verizon as a switchman. After his retirement he enjoyed tending bar at the Brigantine Elks Lodge. He was a member of the Brigantine Elks Lodge 2428, VFW Post 6964, and the American Legion Post 369.
Tommy enjoyed fishing, biking and skiing and spending time with his children, grandchildren, extended friends and family.
In 2010 Tommy was proud to say he completed the Atlantic City Marathon.
Tommy was the beloved husband of the late Joanne (nee Taccetta). He is survived by his son Thomas "TJ" Moynihan III (Nicole); and his daughter Hope Moynihan. He is also survived by his two grandchildren Angelo and Marli Moynihan; Angelo's mother Cristina Luna; his sisters Norine Moynihan, Kathleen Bujan, Carole Johnson, Patricia Venefro, Xena Moynihan; his niece Liz Ebinger; nephew Stephen Holzman; and many other extended family members, including his dog and best buddy Taino.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the life celebration and visitation for Tommy on Friday August 29, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 11:50 a.m., at Keates-Plum Funeral Home, 3112 West Brigantine Ave., Brigantine. An Elks Service will be at 12 p.m., with a memorial service to follow. Military honors provided by the Last Salute will be held immediately after the service.
