Thomas J. Murphy, 73, of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of Minneapolis and St. Michael, MN, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025. Born February 15, 1952, in Minneapolis, Thom was the beloved son of the late Bernard and Bonita (Pearson) Murphy. He spent his early years in Minneapolis, St. Michael and Walker, MN where he developed a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and strong Midwestern values that would guide him throughout his life. Thom dedicated over 35 years of his career to Hunt Electric in St. Paul, MN, where he served as a trusted and respected Electrical Project Manager. He and his wife JoAnne (Quiram) Murphy, his devoted partner of over 45 years, spent many cherished years living in St. Michael, MN, and enjoying time at their cabin on Lake Leech in Walker, MN. In 2014, they moved to Bonita Springs, FL where they embraced a slower pace of life and the warmth of the Florida sun. Thom had a deep love for fishing, boating, and hunting-pastimes that brought him peace and joy throughout his life. He also enjoyed golfing during his working years. One of his favorite personal pleasures was smoking his pipe, a tradition he took great pride in. He curated an extensive collection of pipes, cigars, and fine tobacco, which he considered both a hobby and an art form. Thom is survived by his loving wife, JoAnne; his brothers Richard (Pam) Murphy of Minneapolis, Scott (Nancy) Murphy of Milaca, Bruce Murphy of Minneapolis, and David Murphy of Minneapolis; his sister Cathy (Harold) Hartwig of Pawleys Island, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews who will remember his warmth, humor, and generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Tim Murphy and sister Kimberly Arneson. A private graveside service will take place in Richville, MN.
