Mr. Muto was my 5th grade teacher at Longview and hands down one of the few teachers who impacted my life for years to come. My fondest memory was twin day during spirit week. I didn't have a friend who would twin with me and he agreed to be my twin. We had matching I.O.U striped sweatshirts and jeans. He made education fun and I will always adore him for that.

Dear Muto family,
I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I taught swimming to his Ashman School kids for a year or two at Dow High in the early 80's. I had so much fun with him and his classes. He was such a joy to be around and it was very apparent that he loved his job and the children. They loved him as well. I will never forget his saying, "That's a can of corn!" meaning that it was as easy as a 'piece of cake.' I still say it and it always makes me think of him and the children I so enjoyed teaching to swim and love the water. My deepest condolences to you all.

I taught with Tom at Longview Elementary. He was always smiling and quick with the jokes in the teachers lounge. He sure was an advocate for kids. I´m sorry to read about his struggles.
