Thomas F. Myers

It is with deep loving feeling that I announce the passing of my wonderful husband of 65 years, Thomas Myers. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family on January 6, 2023.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 16, 1936. We were excited to move to Fort Myers Beach in 1976, where Tom started a very new career as the owner of Tom's Island Deli in the Times Square area. He also purchased with his brother-in-law, the long-standing Sand Dollar Clothing Apparel store across from Lynn Hall Park and the Beach Boardwalk Clothing Store. He also established Sugarfoot Bakery & Gift Shop and a real estate office in Times Square area in 1979.
His love for Fort Myers Beach convinced him to build Seafarers Village Shopping Mall in Times Square in 1989. Inside the mall were unique new shops that the community had been waiting for.
Tom served on the Lee County Waterway Committee for 38 years but his longest and lasting commitment was to the Matanzas Pass Preserve. He started the Friends of the Matanzas Pass Preserve and served as chair for 40 years.
Tom was very active in the community but his other love, besides family and friends, was being owner of the Red Coconut RV Park for over 40 years. His Red Coconut family and staff meant so much to him.
Tom was a devoted father to our three children, daughter-in-law, six grandchildren, granddaughter-in-law, three great grandchildren and a large, close extended family of many nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law.
