A memorial celebration was held for Mr. Thomas “Tommy” William Nelson on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer,and Bro. Stephen Beard officiated. A visitation was held from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Tommy was born on December 6, 1955, in Bernice, Louisiana to Clarence W. Nelson, Jr. and Dixie Stratton Nelson. He entered into rest on October 12, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Tommy proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years, with his last duty assignment being on the USS John Paul Jones. After serving in the Navy, Tommy worked for many years at The Ludlow Corporation in Homer, as well as having worked in various oilfield services ending his career with KLX Energy Services. Tommy enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, hunting, and riding his motorcycle. He was a good man, a loving father, and a loyal friend. Tommy is going to be greatly missed by his family and his friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Dixie Nelson, maternal grandparents Virgil and Bankie Stratton, and paternal grandparents Clarence Nelson, Sr., and Dora Nelson.
Left to cherish his memory are his children; Carrie Ann Nelson, Tarrah Nelson Coker and husband Joseph, Shavone Borosvskis and husband Wilson, and Aarin Mitchell, his siblings; Karen Bailey, Buddy Nelson, and Laura Walker and husband Brian, and his grandchildren; Sophia Borosvskis, Colyn Nelson, Maggie Nelson, Charlie Coker, and Ryker Mitchell, and by his loyal dog companion, Sadie.
