Thomas Printz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shuda Funeral Chapel - Stevens Point on Mar. 15, 2026.
Thomas "Tom" J. Printz, age 75 of Rosholt, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and family on March 12, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center after the discovery of a brain tumor.

Tom was born September 23, 1950, in Stevens Point, WI; son of the late William "Bill" and Isabelle (Schulist) Printz. He grew up on a small farm in Rosholt and attended St. Adalbert's parochial school. When entering high school, he attended Rosholt High School, graduating with the Class of 1968. While in high school, he loved playing baseball and was a center fielder and relief pitcher as a lefty. During his senior year, the Rosholt baseball team made it to the state tournament.

Following high school, Tom entered the workforce. He worked at the Stevens Point Brewery for 33 years until an injury induced stroke led to his retirement. In September 1974, Tom married Ruth Stanczyk at Sacred Heart Church in Polonia. The two welcomed three sons, Neil, Kip, and Adam.

Tom's love of baseball continued into his adult life. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing softball with many teams across Central Wisconsin and was an avid Brewers fan. Although baseball was his favorite sport, he truly enjoyed them all and was sure to cheer on the Packers as well. Tom also enjoyed hunting and ice fishing and took part in many excursions with family and friends over the years. When enjoying some time at home, Tom loved watching game shows, especially The Price is Right, Family Feud, and Wheel of Fortune. There was no prying the remote control out of his hand when he was watching them! He also enjoyed playing games with Ruth and his family. They often played cards, dominos, and dice games, with Farkle being his favorite. While Tom's main priority in life was his family, his faith was just as important. He was devoted to the Catholic faith, often praying multiple rosaries each day for family, friends, and even people he had never met that were in need of prayer.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth; their three sons, Neil (Nerissa), Kip (Michelle), and Adam (Brittany) Printz; twelve grandchildren, Riley (Savannah Jane), Isabella (Isaac), Gibson, Gloria, Agatha, Camilla, Aurora, Camryn, Blake, Emmett, Edith, and Eleanor; two great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild on the way.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Isabelle; his parents-in-law, Chet and Beverly Stanczyk; and a brother-in-law, Lenny Stanczyk.

The family would like to thank the Marshfield Medical Center ICU and Palliative Care Unit, along with Dr. Puig-Marquez and Dr. Awe, for the exceptional care and compassion shown to Tom and his family. Also, a thank you to Tom's siblings, Nancy and Alen (Lori), along with all the extended family and friends that visited and offered prayers and support over the past few weeks.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Sacred Heart Parish in Polonia (7379 Church Street, Custer, WI). Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart's Parish Cemetery.
