Thomas “Tom” Prosser, of Beaufort, NC, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 31, 2023.
A memorial service to honor Tom’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 3rd at Munden Funeral Home, presided by Rev. Ryszard Kolodziej. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Tom was born on October 30, 1938, in Jersey City, NJ. He married the love of his life, Letitia “Tish” Meden, on June 26, 1965. Together, they had 6 beautiful children and 11 grandchildren.
Tom worked for many years at PSE&G in Jersey City, NJ, and at the Menhaden Fish Factory on Lennoxville Road in Beaufort, NC. Upon retiring, he became his grandchildren’s chauffeur and drove them to school in “little red school bus” each day.
A faithful fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants, he loved to take in a game whenever he could. He was always present at his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, recitals, and competitions. Taking his children and grandchildren to Shackleford Banks and Fort Macon Beach was his favorite thing to do. He also loved to body surf in the ocean.
His favorite holidays were Christmas and Halloween. He usually spent the entire month of October at Lowe’s Home Improvement admiring the new Christmas decorations. His home was always decorated top to bottom, and he loved the family time the holidays brought.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 58 years, Tish Prosser; his children, Thomas Prosser and his wife Janet Prosser of Morehead City, NC, Darren Prosser of Largo, FL, Tara Mitchell and her life partner Craig Paylor of Morehead City, NC, Lee Taylor and her husband Keith Taylor of Beaufort, NC, Colin Prosser and his wife Donna Prosser of Raleigh, NC, and Amanda Przygodzinski of Beaufort, NC; his grandchildren, Katelyn Mitchell, Matthew Paylor, Jasmine Ruddy, Jade Ruddy, Lexi Mitchell, Abigail Prosser, Colleen Taylor, Sarah Prosser, and Oliver Pryzygodzinski; his brother-in-law, Eddie Fay; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Catherine Prosser; his sister, Ellean Smits and her husband Smitty; his brother, Fred Prosser; his sister-in-law, Nancy Fay; his son-in-law, Morris Mitchell; and his grandsons Landon Mitchell and August Prosser.
