Thomas W. Rakowsky, age 67, of Strongsville, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2025. Tom was a devoted husband to Daria Rakowsky, with whom he recently celebrated 40 wonderful years of marriage. He was a beloved brother to Ron (Marge) Rakowsky and John (Cathy) Rakowsky, a beloved brother-in-law to Oksana (Ihor) Diaczun and Irene (Jerry deceased) Petryna, a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews and a friend and mentor to many throughout his life. A proud graduate of Denison University, Tom remained active in the Kappa Sigma fraternity and carried the values of brotherhood and service throughout his life. He dedicated nearly 30 years of his career to the Ohio Lottery, where he was known for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to public service. Tom's love for his community was unwavering. He served as a Strongsville City Councilman and was an influential figure in the Strongsville City Chamber of Commerce, where he served as both a Trustee and a former President. He was also a past member of the St. Josaphat Men's Club and actively contributed to local initiatives and civic life. Tom will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community. The family kindly requests donations be made in Tom's memory to Denison University. https://support.denison.edu/give Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 6 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Jardine Funeral Home, 15822 Pearl Road, Strongsville, OH 44136. Parastas Service at 7pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, August 7 at 10:00 AM at St. Josaphat Church, 5720 State Road, Parma, OH 44134. Interment will follow at Strongsville Cemetery.
