Thomas “Tom” R. Rauschenberger, age 75, of Green Lake, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 19, 2025.
Tom was born on May 20, 1950, in St. Charles, Illinois, the son of Glen and Kathryn (Williams) Rauschenberger. He married Judy on September 9, 1972, and they shared 53 blessed years together. Tom graduated from the University of Illinois Medical School in 1976 and remained a lifelong Illini fan.
In 1979, the family moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin, where Tom practiced family medicine until his retirement in 2012. During his years in Manitowoc, he was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church. In 2017, Tom and Judy fulfilled their retirement dream of building a home on Green Lake, where Tom found great joy watching storms roll across the lake and eagles soar by. After moving to Green Lake, Tom became a dedicated member of the Federated Church of Green Lake.
Tom was an avid runner, completing five miles every day. He enjoyed kayaking when the weather permitted but was also happy to find a quiet spot with a great view and read a book. In more recent years, he spent his mornings with a cup of coffee and completing the New York Times puzzles. He enjoyed watching sports; college basketball and football were favorites, and he was always up for traveling to watch his grandchildren compete in their sporting events. Many who knew him would remark on his wit and dry sense of humor. With a generous heart, he was an excellent listener who helped others see life with clarity and balance. Above all, Tom treasured time spent with his family and friends.
Tom is survived by his wife, Judy Rauschenberger of Green Lake, Wisconsin; three children, Sarah Rauschenberger of Plymouth, Minnesota, Kristi (Mitchel) Shepard of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Kevin (Heather) Rauschenberger of Milton, Wisconsin; five grandchildren, Charlotte, Annabelle, Colton, Jakob, and Kaylyn; and a brother, Robert (Margaret) Rauschenberger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Kathryn Rauschenberger.
A memorial service for Tom will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Federated Church, 489 Scott Street, Green Lake, Wisconsin 54941, with Rev. Karen Gygax Rodriguez officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Memorials in Tom’s name may be directed to Federated Church or to the Carbone Cancer Center, 1848 University Avenue, Madison, Wisconsin 53726, or online at Carbone Cancer Center website.
