Thomas Earl Riddick Sr. entered eternal rest on Monday, October 28th, 2024. Thomas, affectionately known as "Tommy", was born February 25, 1961, in Sunbury, North Carolina to Mary Riddick and the late Meredith Riddick Jr.
Thomas attended the New Haven Public School system, graduating from Wilbur Cross High School in 1979. Throughout his working career, Thomas had various jobs which include New England Tanker, Mike Corp, United States Surgical and the Omni Hotel. Thomas then became an employee of Yale New Haven Hospital, where he worked for 15 years. Thomas retired from Yale New Haven Hospital in 2016.
In 1998, Thomas met his soon-to-be-wife Sarah Singleton. The two joined martial union on May 20, 2000. Thomas and Sarah created a beautiful and loving blended family.
Thomas' first church he joined was Thomas Chapel Church under the leadership of the late Elder Luther Thomas. In 2020, he joined New Freedom Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Ciceley Little.
Thomas' favorite pastime was playing spades, shooting pool, playing sports, fishing, watching the Las Angeles Lakers and Dallas Cowboys, enjoying old school music and hanging out with his friends at Lou's Lounge. He was known to have the best "House Parties" in the 70s through the 90s while living in Quinnipiac Projects. Although he enjoyed those things, nothing he enjoyed more than being the caretaker for his Mother Mary Riddick during her battle with dementia. He also loved being around his family, children and grandchildren. He ALWAYS enjoyed life to the fullest.
Thomas was predeceased by his father, Meredith Riddick Jr; Daughter Thomineke Riddick; Maternal grandparents; Alice and Roland Savage. And paternal grandparents; Meredith and Mary Riddick Sr. Sister Katie Louise Riddick and brother-in-law James "Buddy" Thompson. He is survived by his mother Mary Riddick; his wife Sarah Riddick, Mother and father-in-law, Agnes and Jimmy Singleton; 2 sisters Rita Riddick Thompson of West Haven, CT, Cassandra Hinton (Jeffrey) of Goldsboro, NC. 3 children, 1 Daughter Tenisha Riddick of Raleigh, NC. 2 sons; Thomas Riddick Jr (Lanisha) of Raleigh, NC, Thomaine Riddick of New Haven, CT. He Leaves to cherish his Stepchildren and Grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He also leaves to cherish all his nieces and nephews, 3 sisters in law: Juanita Singleton of New Haven, CT, Elizabeth Singleton of Bronx, NY. Bo Wiggins (Gene) of Prospect, CT. 4 Brother in laws; Jimmy Singleton Jr of New Haven, CT, Harold (Martha) Singleton of Meriden, CT, Eric Singleton (LaKeisha) of Bethany, CT. 2 Godchildren: Terry Rountree and Tacarra Lawrence. Thomas also leaves to cherish a host of family and friends whom he loves dearly.
