Thomas Riley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shimon Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Thomas H. Riley, "Tom" of Big Cedar Lake passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 89.

Tom was born on May 13, 1936, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to Harold and Katherine Riley. He married the love of his life, Marlene Weber, on January 22, 1955, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. Together, they raised three children and shared many wonderful years on Big Cedar Lake, where Thomas resided for more than 50 years.

Tom was employed by Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for 38 years. He retired in 2001 and cherished the years of retirement he was able to share with Marlene before her passing. A devoted family man, Thomas greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at the lake.

He was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Nabob and loved being outdoors during the summer months. Many will fondly remember Thomas visiting with friends and neighbors at the Gonring Launch on Big Cedar Lake near his home. Known affectionately as the "Ambassador of the Gonring Launch," he was often found offering golf cart rides, sharing stories, welcoming newcomers, and spreading good cheer to all who passed by.

Thomas is survived by his three children: Thomas (Liza) Riley of Fox Lake, WI; Sue Morgano of Sussex, WI; and Mark (Julie) Riley of West Bend, WI. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Riley, Jennifer, Sierra, Taylor, Thomas, Matteo, Austin and Alana, along with other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marlene Riley (Weber); his parents, Harold and Katherine Riley; his sister, Iris Weiland; and other loved ones.

Funeral Services for Tom will be held on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at Shimon Funeral Home (824 Union St., Hartford, WI 53027). Family will greet relatives and friends from 6:00 p.m. until the start of service at 7:00 p.m.

Reverend Richard Stoffel will be officiating.

HEY TOM - SUE - MARK:

Really sorry to hear about the loss your father!

Please cherish and reminisce about all the fabulous times and memories y'all shared as a family unit on Big Cedar Lake. Tom was extremely proud of his kids and especially of all the grandchildren.

When we first moved on to Big Cedar Lake and became neighbors, we definitely got off to a rather rocky start to say the least. But as time moved on and we got to know one another, and became congenial and friendly neighbors. After we moved off Big Cedar Lake, practically every time I was out at the lake, I made a point to stop and visit with your dad. He was thoroughly enjoying life.

Please accept our sincere apologies, as unfortunately we'll be unable to attend your father's service, as we are in Texas.

God Bless.
