Thomas Rittenhouse Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John F. Givnish Funeral Home - Buckingham on Mar. 18, 2024.
Thomas Purdy Rittenhouse III, age 80, of Buckingham, Pennsylvania, passed away at home
surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He left behind a legacy of love,
compassion, and remarkable achievements that will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
Tom was born on January 31,1944 in the Blue Bell area of Germantown, the beloved son of Thomas
Purdy Jr. and Eva Farrow. From a young age, he displayed a remarkable love for nature and a kind hearted spirit that endeared him to everyone he encountered. He played football and ran track at
Roxborough High where is graduated in 1962. He continued his education at Temple University. He
enlisted in the Army Reserves in 1965 and served his country proudly for the following 10 years.
Professionally, Tom possessed a strong work ethic that was unparalleled. He dedicated 36 years of
his life working as a mechanical engineer for the Chempump Division at The Crane Company. He
made significant contributions that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues. His
favorite part of his work day might have been the daily luncheon poker games.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tom was a pillar of strength and support for his family and
friends. He had an infectious laughter and a warm smile that brightened everyone he touched. His
generosity knew no bounds, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Tom's
kindness, compassion, and unwavering love touched the lives of countless people, leaving an
indelible mark on their hearts.
In his leisure time, Tom enjoyed every minute at his home on 27th street in Avalon, NJ. He could
always be found rocking on the porch with a cold beer or in his boat fishing the day away. Whether it
was riding his bike, taking a drive along the river, playing or coaching sports with his kids, or simply
spending time with loved ones, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a devout Catholic
and loved his country.
Tom will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 59 years Roseann (Criniti). He is also survived by his
son, Christopher (Kristen); grandchildren Ava Rittenhouse, Morgan and Ella Bryan; daughter
Christina (partner Brian); grandchildren James (Ritt) (Victoria and great granddaughter Noelle) and
Laina; daughter Susan Claricurzio (Michael); grandchildren Jacob, Ana and Kristina; his sister Carol
Diehl (David); sister-in-law Teresa DeCristofano (late Valentino), and many nieces, nephews, and
cousins that adored him. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on in the
countless lives he touched and the memories we hold dear.
Tom's life will be honored with a viewing Wednesday evening, March 20, 2024 from 6:00 pm until 8:00
pm at Givnish Funeral Home, 4886 York Road, Buckingham, Pa 18912. His funeral mass will be held
on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in
Doylestown, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to The Larry
Greene Memorial Scholarship Fund, Central Bucks High School East, 2804 Holicong Road,
Doylestown, PA 18902.
As we bid farewell to Tom, let us take solace in the knowledge that he has found peace in the
embrace of the angels. May his soul rest in eternal tranquility, and may his memory be a blessing to
us all

I worked with Tom at Crane, and I was part of the card game. I was always glad to talk to Tom, he was always a bright spot in the day. Whenever he needed help from engineering we were always there to support him. Bill Hay

I worked with Tom at Chempump, and he was one of the nicest people I've ever known. He always had a smile and was willing to answer a question or help me whenever I needed it. I can still picture him at his daily lunchtime card game with Ron S. I will always remember him. My deepest sympathy to his family.
