Thomas Chandler "Tom" Rockwood

Tom Rockwood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, with his wife and children by his side. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was the second son of Trulan and Marian Rockwood. Tom grew up in Arvada, Colorado, and San Diego, California.

He served a Spanish-speaking mission in Philadelphia and married the love of his life in the Salt Lake Temple on July 10, 1981. Together, they built a full and meaningful life, raising six children and forming deep, lifelong friendships through family, church service, music, and community in Utah and Washington.

Tom had a deep appreciation for beauty and joy-he loved the beach, music, cooking, color, interior design, singing, reading, BYU athletics, and the Seattle Seahawks-and he brought intention and care to the moments that mattered most. He also believed that life should include laughter, and he never missed an opportunity to make those around him smile.

Tom was a lifelong disciple of Jesus Christ who loved the Lord and served faithfully as a missionary, leader, and teacher, especially with the youth. He often said he simply wanted to be known as a man of faith. He was truly a student of the gospel of Jesus Christ and was often found late at night studying, learning, and growing closer to his Savior.

Diagnosed with stage-four lung cancer in August, Tom continued to live with warmth, enthusiasm, and connection. In his final months, he filled his days with theater performances, concerts, games, and treasured time with his grandchildren, friends, and neighbors-still offering humor and wit right up until the very end. He especially loved living near BYU, serving in his ward, visiting his mother often, and sharing quiet, everyday moments with his wife.

Tom lived a life rich with love, laughter, and devotion. He will be profoundly missed.

A funeral service celebrating Tom's life will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel located at 3511 N. 180 E., Provo, Utah 84604.
