Thomas Lee Rossey 86, of Corsica, passed away Friday, April 11 2025, at Shippenville Nursing and Rehab, of natural causes. He was born on February 23, 1939, in Clarion County to Russell H. Conwell Rossey and Millie Sue (Hughes).
Thomas graduated from Clarion-Limestone High School and subsequently Clarion State Teachers College (now PennWest, Clarion). Tom loved babies and children, and found his life's purpose in teaching for 33 years in the A-C Valley school district (28 of those as a teacher of 4th grade elementary students).
On April 24, 1965, Thomas married Shirley L. Murray of Parker, Pa. Together they raised three children: ReNae (Berry), Annette (Culp), and Kenneth M.
Tom was both an educator and a farmer. He loved to play the piano and listen to classical music. A nature lover at heart, Tom bred and raised canaries for many years, often whistling along to their songs. He was an avid birdwatcher, and each year anxiously awaited the arrival of his favorite birds. He, too, enjoyed his treats sweets. He enjoyed watching the Lawrence Welk show and Jeopardy, with Alex Trebek. He also enjoyed reading and Sudoku.
Tom cherished his four grandchildren: Spencer and Sabrina Packer, and Hannah and Theodore (Teddy) Culp, who survive him. He is also survived by his wife, Shirley, and his three children; and by a brother Samuel (Sam) Rossey, and a sister, S. Suzanne (Rhoads), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Russell (Dick), James (Jim), and George Rossey.
Tom had a favorite poem which he read frequently near the end of his life, "Footprints ". His favorite verse read, "During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you." He will be forever missed by those who loved him.
Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. Ashes will be interned at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Corsica, Pa.
