Thomas Francis Saling, 77, of
Marlton, New Jersey passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on December 12, 2024, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Born on October 28, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Thomas's life was marked by dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
Thomas's journey began as the beloved son of his late parents, Thomas Francis Saling, Sr. and Dorothy Saling, growing up in Bloomfield. His academic pursuits led him to Bloomfield College, where he earned his bachelor's degree. Thomas's sense of duty and patriotism shone brightly as he honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War, a period that shaped much of his character and values.
After his military service, Thomas embarked on a successful career as the Northeast Regional Foodservice Manager with RT French's Mustard Company, where he dedicated 35 years before retiring in 2009. Retirement did not slow Thomas down, as he continued work for Peppers Unlimited for an additional 14 years.
Thomas's heart was always with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Karen M. Saling, nee McFarland, who was his partner in every sense of the word. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Emily A. Saling and Thomas M. Saling, who will carry on his legacy of kindness and strength. His sister, Kathleen Alworth, and her husband Bill, along with his sisters-in-law, Ann Gorman and her husband, Robert, and Susan Johnson, will fondly remember Thomas's warmth and guidance. His many nieces, nephews, and cousins will also cherish his memory.
Thomas was a man of many interests, each reflecting the richness of his personality. He was an avid New York Giants fan, his loyalty to the team as steadfast as his devotion to his loved ones. The shore held a special place in his heart, particularly the summer home in Cape May, where he created countless memories with family and friends. His love for reading, crossword puzzles, and cooking and grilling showcased his intellectual curiosity and his joy in sharing with others.
Above all, Thomas was a devoted family man. He relished in the role of a wonderful husband and father, always putting the needs of his family first. His love was the kind that nurtured and protected, a constant presence in the lives of those he held dear.
