Thomas Ray Sawyer Jr.

Thomas Ray Sawyer, Jr., age 63, of Shawboro, NC, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at his home. Born in Elizabeth City, NC, on September 27, 1962, to Ann Riggs Sawyer and the late Thomas Ray Sawyer, Sr., he was the husband of Regina Jarvis Sawyer.

Thomas was the Chief Operator of the Water Plant in Camden County. He was a member of the Word of Reconciliation Church in Elizabeth City. He recently completed his ministerial certificate through Transformational Bible Institute.

In addition to his wife and mother, Thomas is survived by two sons, James Robert Jarvis (Amber) and Cody Jarvis of Shawboro, NC; a sister, Lynn Parks (Vandy) of Philadelphia, PA; a brother, Danny Sawyer (Tania) of Elizabeth City, NC; his best friend since childhood, Donald Smith of Elizabeth City, NC; a niece, Bethannie "Pudding" Parks (Kevin) of Philadelphia, PA; a great-niece and a great-nephew, Sophia and Oliver; and Ahmad Hill, affectionately known as #3. Tom had countless other children and young adults whom he considered his own. He was preceded in death by his father.

A viewing will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Twiford Memorial Chapel, followed by a memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. The family will be available to greet relatives and friends immediately following the service. Although flowers are welcomed, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Transformational Bible Institute, 714 Richardson Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909, in his honor.
