Donald Lee Creef, 81, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026 at his home in
Chesapeake, Virginia. He was born on July 17, 1944, in Old Norfolk County, Virginia, to the late Arthur R. Creef, Sr. and Addie Sanderlin Creef. Mr. Creef was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Creef Wilson. Donald proudly served his country as a dedicated member of the United States Army for 21 years before retiring with honor. His military service was a significant part of his identity, instilling in him a sense of duty, honor, and generosity that resonated in every aspect of his life. A devoted member of the Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church, Donald found strength and community in his faith. His church family was an integral part of his life, providing support and fellowship that he treasured deeply. He was well-known for his generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to those in need. In his free time, Donald found joy in attending bluegrass and Christian music performances, a passion that brought him happiness and connection with others. His love of music was not just a hobby, but a way for him to express joy and cultivate relationships within the community.
He is remembered by his daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Miller; his grandchildren Chelsea (Hayden) DeMeyers, Lauren (Tyler Wolfrey) Miller, and Camden Miller; and two great-grandchildren who brought him much pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Arthur R. Creef, Jr., who shared many cherished memories with him over the years.
The service to Celebrate his life will be on Friday Jan. 30, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Altmeyer Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 929 Battlefield Blvd., South
Chesapeake, VA where full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army. Pastor Ronnie Gurganus, of Lighthouse Bible Baptist Church will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be private for family only in the family cemetery in
Shawboro, NC.
