Margaret Anne Creef

Margaret Creef, born on April 2, 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on May 21, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia. Her life was a testament to the love and joy she brought to her family and friends, and her memory will be forever cherished.
Margaret's kitchen was the heart of her home, where she often cooked the best crispy fried chicken and fresh seafood for her family. She found immense joy in preparing meals, turning every gathering into a feast filled with warmth, laughter, and great stories. Her culinary skills were rivaled only by her many artistic talents. Alongside her beloved husband Melvin, they created beautiful hand-carved, painted waterfowl. A gifted seamstress, Margaret's needlework and quilting skills were treasured by many. She lovingly made cherished garments for her family, each stitch a testament to her care and creativity. Her talent also extended to her garden, where her green thumb nurtured beautiful irises, geraniums, and roses that brightened her home and heart.
Margaret was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 54 years, Melvin Albert Creef, and her parents, Annie Mae Stallings and Thomas Holland Stallings. She leaves behind a loving family to carry on her legacy: her daughter, Sharon Walker (Stewart) of Henrico, VA; her sons, Michael Creef (Bonnie) of Lynchburg, VA, and Russell Creef (Kimbra) of Chesapeake, VA; her grandchildren, Jennifer Sadoski, Kristen Hills (Casey), Emily Hook (Matthew), and Michael Ashly Creef (Christina); her nine great-grandchildren; her sisters, Brenda Smith and Joyce Marie Forehand (Frank); her brother, Raymond Stallings (Margie); and her many nieces and nephews. She found love and companionship later in life, when she married Orville "Thomas" Ryan (deceased), to whom she was married for 17 years.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Oman Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Margaret's life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at Oman Funeral Home, followed by interment at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. Margaret's spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her legacy of love, creativity, and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
