Thomas Jude Shafer Jr., (Tommy), age 55, died in his hometown of Denver, Colorado on July 17, 2023. He was a graduate of Montbello High School. After graduating he went on to serve the United States of America in the Air Force, where he had dreams of becoming a pilot. Tommy was always an ambitious individual, and after leaving the Air Force he excelled at many different and interesting careers. If you were to ask Tommy what his greatest achievements were, he would, without hesitation, say his children. He loved being a football and cheer dad. From the beginning he was a staunch supporter of all their endeavors, and he took on the role of fatherhood with joy, passion and a fiercely protective nature. He is survived in this world by his children, his son Bradley and his daughter Kaitlyn. He also leaves behind his parents, Thomas and Elizabeth Shafer, his siblings Samantha (Cedric) Dennard, Annetta (Robert) Jones, Philip Shafer and James Shafer along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Funeral services will take place at Horan & McConaty in Thornton, CO, on Thursday August 10, 2023. Viewing will be from 10:00-11:00 with the service at 11:00. Following the service there will be a procession to Fort Logan National Cemetery for the burial. A reception will be held following the burial at the home of his parents, 10904 Verna Lane Northglenn, CO. Flowers can be sent directly to the Funeral Home at 9998 Grant St., Thornton Colorado 80229. If you would like to make a charitable donation in Tommy’s name, his favorite charities were: Food Bank of the Rockies, Denver Bronco Charities and Autism Society of Colorado.
