Obituary published on Legacy.com by Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service - Ahoskie Chapel on Jan. 15, 2026.
Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you. If you can only remember me with tears, then don't remember me at all.
Mark10:27 Jesus looked at them and said "with man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God
MADISON, NC - Thomas Mark Sharp, Jr., aged 49, passed away far too soon on January 13, 2026, after a brief battle with health issues. Born on December 23, 1976, in Ahoskie, North Carolina, Hertford County, Thomas graced this world with his presence, leaving behind memories cherished by those who knew him.
Thomas dedicated his professional life to mastering his trade as a highly regarded HVAC technician. With skillful hands and a meticulous work ethic, he contributed his knowledge and expertise to heating and air conditioning systems. He was deeply admired by colleagues and customers alike for his professionalism and commitment.
An avid sportsman, Thomas relished the outdoors, finding joy in activities such as playing golf, disc golf, hunting, and fishing. His love for nature was exceeded only by the warmth of his personality. Known for his ever-present smile and light-hearted humor, Thomas was always ready with a joke or a helping hand. Friends and family alike remember him as a fun-loving, happy individual who placed others' needs before his own without a second thought.
He is preceded in death by his former wife, Anna Mildred Dixon Sharp with whom he remained very close until her passing. His grandparents: Evelyn Lawrence Eure, John Raymond Askew, Doris Ambrose Sharp, and William Paul Sharp, Sr.; uncles, Raymond Lawrence Felton and William Paul Sharp, Jr.; and his aunt, Jayme Sharp Lawrence, along with her husband Mike.

Yesterday

I first met Mark, Jr (little Mark to me) when I started working with his father in the early-mid 1980's. Mark, Jr was a great kid, always polite and respectful and as an added bonus he shared a birthday with my oldest daughter. I have fond memories of Mark, Jr interacting with my girls when Mark and Vicki watched them. Over time, I lost touch with Mark, Jr as he grew up and moved on with his life. Fast forward about 35 years and my wife and I were pulling our boat home. The entire trailer hitch assembly broke completely off from underneath my truck (it was badly rusted). Myself and another gentleman, who had run over from his house to help, tried to pull the boat and trailer out of the road as 8-10 cars drove by honking, waving and yelling at us to get out of the road. Finally a truck with a young man and lady stopped and asked if they could help. The young man and I were able to hitch the boat onto his trailer hitch and he followed me home. Once we arrived at my house, he asked me if I had worked with his dad, Mark Sharp, Sr. to which I replied that I had. He proceeded to tell me that he was Mark, Jr and told me he remembered me. I was blown away. I guess I say all of that to say that my earliest memories of Mark, Jr were that of an outstanding young man and my last memory of Mark, Jr is that of the outstanding adult he became. Rest in peace little Mark, Jim Shanks
