Thomas Deangelo Shears, known affectionately as Thomas, entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2024, at the age of 41. Born on June 26, 1982, in Wurzburg, Germany, Thomas was a beacon of joy and a pillar of strength for all who knew him. His life was tragically cut short in Buda, Texas, where he passed away from injuries sustained in an accident after a night that showcased his love for music.
Thomas's early life was spent embracing diverse cultures and experiences, which shaped his understanding and appreciation of the world. He was the beloved husband of Elena Martinez and cherished the bond they nurtured over 17 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Brenda Lea Shears, whose memory he held close to his heart. His extended family, including his mother-in-law Irma Garcia, sister-in-law Laura Mata and her husband Robert, sister-in-law Elaine Flores and her husband Merced, along with his adored nephews Adrian, Ryan, Alex, Anthony, Timothy, Joshua, Dylan and niece Daisy, will forever remember his unwavering support and love.
Thomas's formative years were marked by his graduation from Hays High School in 2001. His passion for culinary arts led him to pursue further education at Le Cordon Bleu, where he graduated with an associate's degree. This education was not just a testament to his skill but also to his dedication to bringing people together through the love of food.
Professionally, Thomas dedicated over a decade to The Texas Pie Company, where his talents were a key ingredient to their success. His recent transition to Central Texas Proscapes was a reflection of his ever-evolving interests, and there he discovered a newfound passion for landscaping. His colleagues in both fields will remember him as a man of great skill, creativity, and an unmatched work ethic.
Thomas's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. An avid music enthusiast, he found solace and joy in the melodies and rhythms that spoke to his soul. His love for fishing, cooking, and grilling was only matched by his green thumb, which could be seen in his flourishing garden. A sports fanatic at heart, Thomas reveled in the spirit of competition and the camaraderie that came with every game. His patriotism was deeply rooted and reflected in his respect for the values he held dear.
In his personal life, Thomas's presence was a testament to his character-full of warmth, generosity, and a sense of humor that could light up the darkest of rooms. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless meals shared with friends and family. Those who had the privilege of knowing Thomas will remember him not only for the joy he brought into their lives but also for his resilience and the courage with which he faced every challenge.
As we bid farewell to Thomas Deangelo Shears, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. He will be profoundly missed by all who had the honor of crossing paths with him. His spirit, though no longer in our midst, will continue to inspire us to cherish every moment and to live life with the same zeal that he so effortlessly embodied.
Thomas's life will be commemorated in a private ceremony, surrounded by his loved ones who will carry forward his memory with love and pride. His departure from this world leaves a void that can never be filled, but the memories he created will forever be etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
