Tommy, age 66, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. He was a resident of Springfield, LA. Tommy was extremely intelligent and worked for many years as an Aviation Instrumentation Technician. After leaving the oil & gas industry he set out to do his next skill set, truck driving. Tommy enjoyed going out on the open road, and his wife Genice joined him in his journey. Together they traveled all over, creating a lifetime of wonderful memories. Tommy was a master of all trades; if he set his mind to it, he could do it. He enjoyed playing golf, watching all sports, but most of all being with his family. Tommy adored his family, but the ones that called him Paw Paw held a special place in his heart. He was always up for an adventure, and he never let a moment pass without having some fun. Tommy was an all-around amazing man with a heart of gold. He will be forever missed.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Genice Shurden; daughter, Monica Perrin (Justin); son, Zachary Shurden (Leah); sister, Anna Marie Shurden; and grandchildren, Annabella Cater, Kellen Shurden, Rory Shurden, Viola Shurden, and Hallie Perrin.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Florene Shurden; and brothers, Phillip Shurden, and Robert Shurden.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home at 12012 Hwy 190 W Hammond, LA 70401 on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 12:00 p.m.
