Peacefully and surrounded by those who loved him most, Thomas Quinn Simpson, affectionately known as, Juice, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on November 3, 1957, in Atlanta, Georgia, and raised in the East New York section of Brooklyn, NY, Thomas was the beloved son of Jessie and Thomas Simpson (both predeceased). From an early age, he carried a quiet strength, a sharp wit, and a sense of humor that made him unforgettable. Affectionately known as "Juice," he had the rare gift of lighting up a room without ever needing to raise his voice.
A proud graduate of Automotive High School's Class of 1975, Thomas went on to serve in the United States Army. Though his time in uniform was brief, the pride he carried as a soldier stayed with him for the rest of his life. Every Veterans Day, he would lovingly pull out his Army photo, his smile radiating the honor he felt in serving his country. Another uniform that Thomas wore with equal pride was his black leather High Power vest. To him, High Power was never just a crew - it was family. Since its beginning in 1979, the brotherhood of High Power has stood the test of time, and Thomas treasured being part of that bond for decades. His brothers were not simply friends, but lifelong companions who walked beside him in loyalty, laughter, and love.
In 1986, Thomas began what would become a 35-year career with Federal Express. Through rain, snow, and summer's heat, he was known as "The Hardest Working Man in Brooklyn." His dedication to his job and customers was unwavering, and his work ethic became legendary in his community.
Thomas's greatest joy, however, was his family. He was the proud father of Latanya ("Pumpkin") and Latoya ("Spunkie"), and when he met the love of his life, Wanda Shields, he gained not only a devoted partner but also a bonus daughter, Ambrosia, whom he loved as his own. Together, Thomas and Wanda welcomed their youngest daughter, Ariana ("Boobie"), completing a family that became the heartbeat of his world. In 2019, Thomas fulfilled two lifelong dreams - owning a brand-new car and building a home. With great pride, he built his Delaware home from the ground up, pouring care into every detail. What began as a dream became a legacy, a place of love and belonging for his family. He embraced his new role as a "city boy turned farmer," taking joy in tending his yard, slowing his pace, and leaving behind something lasting for the generations who would come after him.
Thomas's faith journey deepened when he joined Kingdom Culture Church in
Dover, DE in 2023. There, he found not only a church home but also a family who encouraged him to grow in Christ and walk boldly in his calling. His heart for service shone brightly as he served on the Security Team, taking great pride in ensuring the safety of his pastor and congregation. On September 7, 2025, he was ordained as a Deacon. This milestone reflected his dedication to both God and his community and remained one of the proudest moments of his life. The relationships he built with Apostle and Pastor Pittman and the men of KCC were a source of joy and strength in his final years. Truly, he lived out the words of Matthew 25:23, "Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord."
Thomas's devotion to God shaped his spirit, but music and laughter kept his heart light. Stevie Wonder's songs filled his days, and he dreamed of traveling to the beaches of Australia, Budweiser in hand, and laughter in the air. He cherished simple joys and never missed a chance to create memories with those closest to him.
Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of 24 years, Wanda Shields-Simpson; his children Latanya (Shagion), Ambrosia (Alex), Latoya, and Ariana; his beloved grandchildren Saala, Ethan, Zuri, and Sayeed; his brother Kenneth (Doreen); sisters Lydia and Marcia; nieces Tamika, Tiffany, Chanel, and Jaleesa; nephews Maurice, Jay, Jamel, Denzel and Sean; brother-in-law Earnest Shields; godchildren Kayla Knight and Damien Myrick; and a host of family and friends who will carry his memory forward. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Thomas Simpson.
His wife, Wanda, would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and family who walked alongside Thomas in his time of need, offering love, care, and the priceless gift of presence: Mr & Mrs. Ron Jenkins, Mr. & Mrs. Nate Battle, Jay Pills, Stephanie Robinson, Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Davie, Mr. & Mrs. Kenny Singleton, Tracy Thomas, Kelly Willford, Dawn Dantzler, Cheryl Hughes, Faye Scott, Earnest, Shelly, Otis Myrick (beloved friend of over 60 years), and his daughter Latanya - lovingly known as "Pumpkin." To all of you, your kindness will never be forgotten. Thomas's legacy is one of faith, family, hard work, and love. He will be remembered as a husband who adored his wife, a father who cherished his children, a grandfather who delighted in his grands, and a friend whose laughter and loyalty left a mark on everyone he met.
