Thomas F. Sims Jr, age 76 passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved
ones on September 17, 2024. Tommy was born in Mobile, Alabama and was an avid fan
of the Crimson Tide. He joined the Navy when he was 17 years of age and was a
decorated Vietnam Veteran who was nominated as Sailor of the Year amongst other
medals and achievements. He originally moved to St. Augustine, FL with his family in
1975, but reenlisted in the Navy in 1978 and was then stationed in Virginia Beach, VA
and Millington, TN, respectively. Tommy and his family moved back to St. Augustine in
1986 while stationed at NAS Jax until he retired. He was an avid outdoorsman who
enjoyed hunting, fishing, coaching baseball, watching Alabama football, dancing with
the love of his life (Peggy) and hanging out with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Tommy and his wife Peggy were the main attraction every time they were seen on a
dance floor. He was a free spirit who loved to laugh and have a good time. He was a
simple man who lived a simple life and was happy with what he had and who he was.
His wife, Peggy was the love of his life whom he was married to for the last 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sims. His two sons and daughters-in-law; Andrew and
Jennifer Sims; T.J. and Sydney Sims; daughter and son-in-law; Stacey and Colin
Williams. His brothers; Julius Lee Sims and Jerry Leslie Sims, twelve grandchildren and
