It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Lawrence
South, a beloved father, brother, spouse, friend, and grandfather, on June 3, 2024.
Thomas, affectionately known as Tom; was born on October 17, 1947, in Oceanside,
California, to William and Mary South. He was the youngest of three brothers and older
sibling to two younger sisters, each uniquely individual, yet Tommy shared a special
bond with his father, reflecting his father's traits and maintaining a close relationship
throughout his life.
Growing up in a Navy Commander's household, Tom experienced a life of travel during
his formative years, attending various schools across the country from California,
Alaska and Florida. Ultimately, found his calling in the trades, dedicating his life to
working with his hands. Before establishing his career as a Master Plumber, Tom
proudly served his country in the Air Force from 1968-1972 being stationed in England
and travelled all over Europe as a Sergeant and Load Crew Chief, a commitment
evident in his frequent choice of Air Force hats and tees. He loaded, inspected,
maintained weapons and gunnery systems, however preferred to travel the European
countryside on his Norton Commando Motorcycle with his best friend Jay.
After his service, Tom embarked on a journey to find his true path in both his career and
personal life. This journey led him to Toni Ann, the love of his life. Their marriage in
1981 spanned 43 years, was a testament to their deep affection and mutual respect.
Tom's endearing calls of Toni; always brought a smile to those who knew them.
Together with ambient pride, they were blessed with a loving son, Thomas Michael
South (Tommy), named in Tom's honor.
Tom and Toni began their life together in Rochester, NY, but soon moved to Colorado to
be closer to Tom's father. It was there that Tom honed his skills, achieving his Master
Plumbing degree and founding Franktown Plumbing. His dedication to Quality, Honesty,
and Fair Pricing quickly earned him a stellar reputation. His famous Yellow Page ad,
"I'm On Call for your Call," made Franktown Plumbing a trusted name in southeast
Denver, recommended by both suppliers, competitors, and property owners throughout.
Driven by fierce independence, Tom realized a lifelong dream with Toni by designing
and building their own home on five acres between Franktown and Elizabeth. This
energy-efficient berm house, built with his father, became a beloved gathering place for
friends and family, showcasing Tom and Toni's love for cooking and hospitality.
After retiring in 2022, Tom enjoyed a quiet life in his cherished home until his untimely
passing on June 3rd, 2024.
His memory will be forever treasured by his devoted spouse, Toni South, his beloved
son, Thomas Michael South, daughter-in-law Laureta South, and his adored
grandchildren, Isabella and Sebastian. Mr. South is survived by his siblings and their
spouses Robert (Patsy) South, Merilee (Russell) Curry, Patricia South and Nancy Corry
as well as numerous In-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his
brother William Wood III in 2022.
Thomas Lawrence South's life was a testament to living authentically, spreading his
wealth of knowledge, and staying true to loved ones. He will be profoundly missed by all
who had the privilege of knowing him.

We were so sorry to hear of Tom´s passing....We came to know him as our go-to plumber for over 30 years and we so appreciated his work ethic, his professionalism and his honesty. He was definitely one of a kind! Our deepest condolences to his family and may his memory be eternal.

After the funeral, I felt I knew Thomas, in a small way, compared to others who were blessed with a long friendship. I was acquaintances with Toni, while we were both employeed at Xerox. Dear Toni, I cannot even imagine your heavy shoulders right now, but you had a room full of supporters Wednesday, PLEASE lean on them. I know this isn't comfortable for you to do; being the strong Italian that you are. And Tom was your rock in many ways. God bless you. Love to you, Sue Sarwark

What a great obituary and since Tom was not really one to talk about himself, lots of fascinating information about a life well lived of which I had no idea. We knew Tom both personally and professionally for 34 years and I'd say one would be hard pressed to find anyone in the Pinery and Franktown area that didn't know Tom. For all of the contacts that he had in the local area, most would consider him a personal friend who was always there when you needed him. He will definitely be missed... Alan Payne. Franktown, CO
