Our dear Dad passed away on August 14, 2025. He lived and worked in Rochester, New York. He was born (and grew up) in the small town of East Aurora, New York on April 1, 1937.

He is survived by his two sons: Thomas J. (with wife Karen (Webster) Standeven) of Gates, New York, and Andrew W. (with wife Elizabeth Hogan) of Medford, Massachusetts.

As well, he is survived by Mrs. Madeleine Standeven Haughn (his older sister) of Bryson City, North Carolina, and by Mrs. Ernest J. Standeven (his sister-in-law Hazel) of Scio, Oregon.

Dad is pre-deceased by his older brother Ernest John Standeven, who sadly passed away in October 2017.

He also leaves behind five outstanding grandchildren: Stephanie (Standeven) Schultes (with husband Ryan), Quinn Crowley, Victoria Shin Hogan Standeven, Augustus Joseph Hogan Standeven, and Winston Anne Hogan Standeven. Dad is also survived by his one and only great-granddaughter, Ava Noelle Schultes.

He also leaves behind many proud nieces and nephews throughout the United States.

He was a devoted husband to our Mom, Chong Su Shin Standeven – who passed on in August 1998. They were married for 36 years.

An accomplished Boy Scout during his formative years, our Dad was part of the U.S. contingent to the Seventh World Scout Jamboree of 1951, traveling to Bad Ischl, Austria.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, honorably discharged in 1965. He served with distinction in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Eighth Army, in Seoul, South Korea.

A long-standing accountant, sales representative and office manager in the bookbinding industry, he was employed with Zahrndt’s Bookbinders and the Riverside Group for over four decades in Rochester, New York.

Our Dad was a sport (and especially baseball) fanatic in the truest sense, being a life-long follower of the St. Louis Cardinals, Rochester Red Wings and the Buffalo Bills. He was also a faithful and tireless alum for his alma mater, Lehigh University, since graduation in 1959.

Dad’s interests ranged from American history to road trips and touring, from bowling and motorcycling, to reading and repairing. For over 40 years he bowled in many leagues, totaling five leagues a week at one point. His biggest accomplishment in this regard was being a member of the International Senior Men’s League Champions in 2022-2023.

A small private ceremony will be held with interment of his ashes at the columbarium of Trinity Episcopal Church in Greece, New York -- of which he was also a truly devoted member of the congregation – this August 23, 2025.

His ashes will be placed to rest beside his wife, our beloved Omanee, Chong Su Shin Standeven.

He will always be in our hearts.
