Thomas Stone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Sharpe Funeral Home, Inc. on Nov. 19, 2025.
Thomas William Stone, (68) son of the late Mr. Willie James Stone and Mrs. Mary Lee Trollinger Stone of Graham, North Carolina departed this earthly life on September 16, 2025. Thomas affectionately called "Tommie" after his paternal grandfather, was born on July 1, 1957, in UNC-Chapel Hill Hospital and was a native of Alamance County. He was the oldest of eight siblings born to Mr. & Mrs. Willie James Stone. He attended Southern Alamance High School and worked in various light industrious and textile companies around Alamance County in his younger adult years. Tommie loved playing cards, listening to music, dancing, watching movies (mostly westerns) and hanging out with family and friends. He was known for athletic build, physical strength, sharp dress, keeping a clean car, and not to be played with on the streets, because he could, would and was good at fighting! Tommie was a protector of his siblings and cousins, and he took that role and responsibility very serious. After a 6-year battle with dementia, the LORD in HIS providential wisdom called him from earth to glory.
Tommie lived a hard and tempestuous life for most of his life, and he made some decisions that cost him years of freedom and opportunities as an American citizen. But there was one decision he made that gave him the greatest freedom and most wonderful opportunity of all; Tommie made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior of his life while he had the clarity of mind to do so Hallelujah!
Tommie was preceded in death by his biological father and mother, Willie and Mary Stone, a beloved niece Patrice V. Stone, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and dear friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, four brothers: William Darnell Stone (65), Jeffrey Davis Stone (61) Rodney Alexander Stone (58) Dr. Christopher A. Stone (55), wife – Nadine V. Stone, three beloved sisters: Angela Annette "Curtis" Stone (63), Anisa Louise Stone (59), Carolyn Renea Stone (57) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
Tommie's presence will be missed, his memory cherished, and manhood honored. Our family gives special thanks to our sister – Carolyn Renea Stone for her untiring, selfless and sacrificial care for Tommie in the last five years of his life when his dementia began to progress and demand more attention, time and personal care.
