Just days after his 78th birthday, Tom peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on June 23, 2024, at his home in Wadena, MN, with Lakewood Hospice providing compassionate care.
Thomas Lee Suhl was born to Bernard and Hilda (Eggbraaten) Suhl on June 15, 1946, in Muscatine, IA. He worked as a sprinkler fitter for Local Union 669 until 1996, and then attained his GED. He came out of retirement in 2005 and started driving school bus for Wadena-Deer Creek School until 2020.
Thomas and Sue Playle were married on March 19, 1966, in Elk River, MN. They moved to St. Joseph in 1972, and then to Sebeka in 1977. They made their home in Wadena for the last 24 years. He loved watching his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in the time he spent with them, as each one was always met and left with a hug and a kiss. Tom enjoyed his dog, Rex, camping, woodworking, baking and especially loved sharing time with Sue on their Harley Davidson motorcycle.
For 45 years, Tom was an active member of the Road Sprinkler Fitters Local Union 669, and with International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 70.
Preceding Tom in death were his parents, Bernard and Hilda; brothers: Edward, Lester, Robert and Ronald Suhl; sisters: Lois Parr, Betty Miller, and Karen Tichy; grandson Daniel Suhl; and in-laws, William and Callie Playle.
Memories of Thomas will be treasured by his devoted wife of 58 years, Sue; children, Brenda (Steven) Fischer of Wadena, Christopher (Ginger) Suhl of Staples; adopted son, Collin (Cindy) Suhl of Wadena; grandchildren: Tristan Howe, Joshua Wutzke, Dillon Wutzke, Christopher Schmidt, Darwin Kasprowicz, Harlee Suhl, Hailee Suhl, William Fischer, John Fischer, Ben Fischer, Brianna Wiezorek, and Nick Fischer; great-grandchildren: Leland Howe, Xavier Howe, Shealyn Manther, Megan Howe, Jaxton Wutzke, Weston Wutzke, Miles Fischer and Jay Fischer; great-great-grandchildren; Athena Manther, Faith Sniker, Trinity Manther, Axel Jr Manther and Nova Manther; brother, Gary (Mary) Suhl of Wadena; sister, Lora (Wayne) Robberstad of Andover; along with numerous nephews, nieces, and a host of friends.

I love you so much Uncle Tom. My heart is heavy right now. I know it's an old picture, it's one of the only memories I have left of you. This was probably 2008.
