Thomas Emmett Sutherland

Thomas E. Sutherland, helicopter engine mechanic and life-long resident of Corpus Christi, TX, died at the age of 58 on Monday, July 1, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, US Navy Veteran, devout Christian, and motorcycle enthusiast. For those who knew him best, they would simply say that the world lost a good man.
Thomas was born in Joplin, Missouri on January 6, 1966, to Sid Sutherland and Patty Wright. He served in the United States Navy from July 23, 1984 to September 22, 1990. On October 3, 1995, he married Flory, a Peruvian woman. On May 10, 2002, he welcomed his son who was the most important part of his life.
Thomas is survived by his parents; his wife, Flory Sutherland; his son, Scott Sutherland; his brothers, Shawn Sutherland, Matt Wright, and James Wright; and his sister, Heather Ochs.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at Segunda Iglesia Bautista, 5405 Carroll Ln, at 2:00 PM; followed by visitation from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Rite of Committal and Interment with military honors will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 10:00 AM.
