Thomas J. Tabor Jr. of Medford, NJ went home to the Lord on June 26, 2024. He was 70 years old.
He was the beloved husband of Marise Tabor, loving father of Kara, John and Tessa Tabor, and dear brother of the late Jeanne Walker.
Tom was born on November 24, 1953 to Thomas and Gertrude Tabor. He grew up in Upland, California and spent much of his life in Southern California until heading to the Northeast in the late Eighties.
Tom was a devout Christian and true polymath, devoting his spare time to studying theology, philosophy, history, economics, politics and anything else that captivated his mind. He was also a music and wine aficionado with an offbeat sense of humor. Never a meme maker but quite the meme enjoyer.
Tom could expound on Plato's Forms, reference obscure reggae artists and beat sommeliers in blind tastings. His gumbo wasn't half bad either. A SoCal man at heart, Tom became an adopted son of South Jersey, where he came to love the Eagles and acknowledge that the shore is actually pretty great.
Above all, Tom had a moral compass that always pointed true north. His deep convictions emanated a love of justice and a moral vision for a better world. To those who knew him well, it was evident that his mission in life was to selflessly raise his family with him as their rock. He succeeded.
There will never be anyone else like him.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2 from 7 to 8 p.m. at The Schetter Funeral Home, 304 W. Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, NJ. A funeral service will take place during the visitation. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's memory may be made to Cathedral Kitchen.
