Thomas Edward Thompson

Mr. Thomas Edward Thompson, 87, passed away peacefully in his home on January 26, 2022. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and aside from a few years in Arlington, VA, where he served 3 years in the Army and met his wife, Carolyn (Hanlin) Thompson, he lived his entire life in Memphis. He and his loving wife began their own typesetting and printing business in 1970 which continued to run under his direction for 52 years through today. He loved his profession in which he was able to capitalize on his creativeness, design and organization. What he enjoyed most was interacting with his business customers and developing long-lasting friendships. He was a talented piano player and amateur songwriter, even winning several awards in 1984 in some local songwriting contests. He played the clarinet in the Central High School band programs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee C., Sr. and Minola Thompson and his older brother, Lee C. Thompson, Jr. (age 92). He lost the love of his life, his wife of 58 years, Carolyn, on January 6, 2017 and his youngest son, Bryan W. Thompson in the same year. He is survived by his sister, Betty Thompson Wilson (Lee), his daughter Dawn M. Thompson (Kenny), and his son Thomas J. Thompson (Michelle). He leaves 6 grandchildren: Kara Flowers, Jon Altizer, Tyler Thompson, Jordan Thompson, Lauren Thompson and Morgan Thompson along with 3 great grandchildren: Christopher Flowers, Zachary Crossnine and Payton Bramlett.
Memorial Service will be held at High Point Funeral Home, 3788 Summer Avenue, Tuesday, February 1, 2022. Visitation at 1:00 pm and Services begin at 2:00 pm. Graveside service will follow at Memphis Memory Gardens, 6444 Raleigh-LaGrange Road. Family requests memorial donations be made to The American Heart Association.
