Thomas (Tom) Christopher Treacy
November 25, 1929 – May 10, 2025

Tom Treacy, 95, died peacefully at his home in Costa Mesa, California on May 10, 2025, surrounded by his family.

Tom was born November 25, 1929 to parents Patrick and Margaret Treacy. He grew up in Glenamaddy, Galway, Ireland, along with his siblings, Mary Teresa, Patrick, John, Michael, Brendan, Rodrick and Bridget. He attended school at the Monastery located in Killkern taught by the Franciscan Brothers. Growing up he enjoyed dancing, Gaelic football, hurling, playing cards and singing. He had a deep love of nature and all animals.

Tom farmed the family land in Glenamaddy, Kiltullagh until the age of 17. At that age he decided to make the journey to England where he lived and worked alongside his brother Patrick "Paddy" for three years. He then decided to travel to far away lands, first stopping in Toronto, Canada for a year and a half, next to Philadelphia for a year. Tom left Phili in 1957 driving across the country with his best friend John Doyle landing in sunny Newport Beach, California.

In 1967, Tom met and became enamored with Therese "Anne" Scully an Irish lassie from Killbegan, West Meth, Ireland and they married that same year. They were married just shy of 58 years. Tom and Anne had three children, Margaret, Thomas (Tommy) and Christeen. Tom and Anne lived their married life between San Juan Capistrano and Costa Mesa, California. His family was his pride and joy.

Tom spent much of his career working outside as a landscape contractor for his own company. Outside of work, he enjoyed traveling with his family, bringing them back to his homeland. He loved the ancient Gaelic games: hurling and football., going to the beach, dancing with mom and having a great laugh. He was an extraordinary athlete, an avid reader, and a masterful storyteller. Friends and family remember him for his unwavering dedication to his family, moral character, strength, sense of humor, kindness and courage.

Tom was an active parishioner at St. Joachim's before moving to SJC in 1975. In SJC, he was active in the local parish donating his time and resources as an instrumental contributor in the building of the Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano.

He is survived by his brother Brendan residing in England, his loving wife, Anne, children, Margaret, Tommy and Christeen and grandchildren, Claire, Cooper, Zoe, Luciana and Stella all residing in California. He was known for his deep devotion to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Margaret, his brothers, Patrick, John, Michael, and Rodrick and sisters, Mary Teresa and Bridget.
